GUARDIAN DONATES 10,000 #GUARDIANCARE PACKS WORTH RM400,000 TO LOWER INCOME SCHOOL CHILDREN TO MARK ITS 54TH ANNIVERSARY

#guardiancare initiative to focus on the three pillars of Health, Community and the Environment

To celebrate its 54th anniversary after two years of pandemic-driven challenges Guardian Malaysia today launched its #guardiancare initiative to focus on caring for the health of customers and the community.

Angela Teo, Head of Marketing, Guardian Health & Beauty Sdn Bhd said: “#guardiancare is a sustainability initiative, that cares for our customers, their family, the shopping choices they make and also for the community they live in.

“We would like to inspire and empower customers to make healthy and sustainable choices when it comes to choosing the health and beauty brands they trust at Guardian. At the end of the day, we want our customers to ‘care’ about what they buy and in turn, make the environment better.

“At Guardian, we believe that beauty begins from the inside. By choosing to care, together we can make a difference.”

Consequently, the initiative is centred around ‘because i care’ sentiment, and will focus on three key pillars connected to Guardian’s brand purpose. They are:

 1. Health – good health and well-being of our customers and the communities

2. Community – educating the community on their health concerns

3. Environment – promoting responsible consumption and production practices, reducing single plastic use

The "i Care’ sentiment as reflected in the logo

To launch this initiative, Guardian is kicking off their Health campaign by giving away 10,000 #guardiancare packs, worth a total of RM400,000, to school children in 30 schools throughout the nation, in partnership with Yayasan Perintis Malaysia. Each #guardiancare pack will contain a specially designed Covid-19 Handbook, which has been approved by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health and hygiene products such as handwash, sanitizers, face mask, tissue paper and Gummies for kids vitamins. These #guardiancare packs will be distributed to B40 schoolchildren at schools identified by nearby Guardian stores.

For the second pillar of Community and its health, Guardian, which has the largest network of pharmacists in South East Asia, will actively educate the community on important health issues and concerns especially during these Covid-19 times through Guardian’s social media platforms and in-store activations.

Guardian has started its Pharmacist Community Outreach programme through Facebook Live segments and Instagram where our followers can ask the Pharmacist any health concern questions ‘live’ and get their answers instantly.

In addition, Guardian will also educate consumers on products that offer ’Clean beauty’ with natural or green ingredients and also products that are ‘Cruelty free’ (not tested on animals) and with sustainable packaging, products that are packed in re-cyclable or re-useable packaging.

To care for the Environment, Guardian has introduced a special Eco-friendly re-useable #guardiancare bag in their stores now which will sell for only RM1.

“In conjunction with Malaysia’s National Environment Day celebrated on 21 October 2021, we would like reduce consumption of single use plastic bags in our stores by encouraging our customers to use these #guardiancare bags instead which can be re-used many times and last a long time. The bags can carry far more weight than single use plastic bags. In this way, both our customers and Guardian are caring for the planet together,” Angela said.

“We hope our customers can join and support us on this #guardiancare journey that we have embarked. As you can see, there are many iCare programs running and we will continue to introduce more in 2022 to ensure #guardiancare becomes an important aspect of their lives with great benefits to them, their families and their community at large,” added Angela.

To further reward our customers in this Anniversary month, Guardian has put together a massive 54th Anniversary Shopping Bonanza, on all its social media platforms, with special offers of 54% off on the purchase of the second item in the personal care, health care and skin care, Botaneco hair and bath range of items. There are also Buy 1 Free 1 promotion for cosmetics including a Shop & Win contest on Guardian’s Facebook where all they need to do is to like the Guardian 54th Anniversary Bonanza Shop & Win post and PM their Guardian receipt for purchases from 1 October to 27 October to be in the running for five prizes of a Surprise Box worth RM400 each to be won.

There is also a Shop, Wave and Win contest with MyDebit running from 1 October until 31 December 2021. All customers need to do is to spend a minimum of RM30 in a single receipt by using MyDebit with their ATM card and stand a chance to win a share of prizes worth RM520,000 over three monthly draws. Additionally, there is also a GrabPay deal where customers will get a RM6 discount with a minimum spend of RM60 on a single receipt using GrabPay valid from 1 to 31 October 2021.

For more information, our customers can access our #guardiancare landing page on our website at www.guardian.com.my or any Guardian social media platform, FB, Instagram and Tik Tok.

Back to school 15 July 2020

growing up fast, this photo was taken when he was below 12 years old.
It's month of July 2020, soon my son will be back to school on 15 July 2020. He has tried out the school uniform and he still can fit them. However he has not try out the school shoes, I think he can still fit in them as few months back I have bought a few pair shoes which is one or two size bigger for him. He will be getting ready hand sanitizer, extra face mask to school in case one mask is filled with sweat he got to change it with another. Of course the standard operating procedure of school to follow. I also will be giving him wipes in case he needs to use to wipe something.

Social distancing to practice of course in the school, he shared the video of school for me to see that they are practice one way walking in and out of the school.

I am sure of how is the SOP of his little brother for primary school that's his turn to back to school on 22 July 2020. It's going to be same that we be providing him the hand sanitizer, wipes, and extra face mask to bring to school. He already know of the importance of social distancing. He got a personalized mask, but he will not be using that for schooling.

Besides back to school soon, it's maybe month of August that the boys got to go back to tuition centre as waiting the tuition centre to confirm and let us know about it. As for now they are both online tuition at home, I have problem with Ipad access to Google classroom so I didn't use that anymore. My laptop is 15 years old and has got a few times auto shut down by itself, my son is using it for attending online school class Google Meet. Ipad can us for Zoom meeting, for tuition and other online class school.

The month of July indeed a special month, it's also my hubby birthday. Some of my friends already started their plan on vacation in Malaysia and some of them already started visiting places in Malaysia. As for us, we just keep calm and stay home not planning for any vacation at the moment.

Most valuable for lactating mothers: Check out BRAND’S® Essence of Chicken

Over 100 pharmacists from leading pharmacy chains along with other invited guests discovered “The Science Behind BRAND’S® Essence of Chicken” in a recent 2-day interactive dialogue session that was led by Senior Scientist BRAND’S® Suntory International, Dr. Jack Wong Jing Lin.

According to Dr. Wong, drinking BRAND’S® Essence of Chicken is not only good for the body and mind which reduces tiredness and improves concentration, but gives precious benefits that are most valuable for lactating mothers.

“BRAND’S® Essence of Chicken has been widely studied and supported by over 40 international scientific papers and clinical studies and it is also proven to improve the quality of colostrum and helps to boost up the quantity of breast milk.” explained Dr. Wong.

“In addition to that, knowing that Malaysian’s staple food are mostly white rice and bread, we have research showing that consumption of BRAND’S® Essence of Chicken together with white rice or bread helped reduce glycaemic response. This could be beneficial to people who are concerned about their blood sugar level.” he summarized.

BRAND’S® Essence of Chicken has long been a favourite based on trust and experience, especially among the older generation. Today’s consumers, however, are more discerning and need hard evidence for them to believe in a product that is safe and beneficial to be consumed.

During the session, the participants were also introduced to the new BRAND’S® Lutein Essence by Dr. Tan Zhen Wei, Senior Scientist BRAND’S® Suntory International. BRAND’S® Lutein Essence is the only health tonic in the market that has been developed based on science and has been proven to increase macular pigment in the eyes which is essential in filtering blue light.

“Malaysians spend an average of almost 14 hours a day on digital devices with 89% engaged with digital devices once awake and before sleep. BRAND’S® Lutein Essence helps to protect the eyes from over exposure to blue light through prolonged usage of electronic devices which can lead to various digital eye strain such as eye fatigue, dry eyes and blurred vision.” said Dr. Tan.

BRAND’S® Lutein Essence contains two important nutrients for eyes which are Lutein and Zeaxanthin, both of which have been proven to increase macular pigment in the eyes which is essential in filtering blue light.

The forum was led by BRAND’S® Suntory International Senior Scientist, Dr. Jack Wong Jing Lin who will be sharing the new benefits of consuming BRAND’S® Essence of Chicken on breastfeeding and how it helps maintain lower Glycemic response, in addition to other scientifically proven benefits. Joining him at the event will be Dr. Tan Zhen Wei, Senior Scientist BRAND’S® Suntory International, who introduce and talk about the new BRAND’S® Lutein Essence.

BRAND’S® products are scientifically based and have been researched and published in various journals. BRAND’S® will now take it further by creating an online information resource by launching BRAND’S® Health Enrichment Centre website (www.BHEcentre.com), next month. The site aims to translate scientific knowledge into practical health and lifestyle resources to help health care professionals and consumers to be in their optimal health.

Vinda Deluxe ‘Stay Strong Malaysia' Campaign

Good day to all my readers and visitors. Today is the first day of UPSR exam, all the best to boys and gals who are having the examination. Also good luck to my son who is having his first Chinese papers exam. Speaking of exam, I also give my son Vinda Deluxe tissue to bring to school. It's daily basis that he needs to bring tissues to school as he can use for after meal use and other convenience.

Sharing is caring, Vinda Deluxe continues to celebrate strength in various forms with the unveiling of “Stay Strong, Malaysia: Bersama Kita Bersihkan Tanahair Kita” campaign, held in conjunction with Malaysia Day at Sunway Pyramid from 14-17 September. Working with Malaysian cartoonist Zunar, the event spotlights a first-of-its-kind largest comic artwork drawn on Vinda Deluxe tissues, reflecting the rise of a ‘new’ Malaysia and Malaysians’ strong passion for a bright future. This innovative use of tissue highlights the Extra Strong feature of Vinda Deluxe tissues.

“Vinda Deluxe is synonymous with strength, and this latest effort underscores our ongoing promise to Stay Strong For You through every situation and circumstance. In the past we celebrated strength in relationships with Malaysia’s first tissue wedding gown, created exclusively for a real-life couple’s special day. Today, in solidarity with all Malaysians, we are excited to bring strength to life in another form, through the “Stay Strong, Malaysia: Bersama Kita Bersihkan Tanahair Kita” campaign. Zunar’s creation demonstrates the strength of Vinda Deluxe tissues while calling for Malaysians to stand firm in their dream of making a positive change. His unique perspective to the campaign also reflects our brand promise, that Vinda Deluxe will Stay Strong for You, just as Malaysians stay strong for one another,” said Evelyn Chan, Marketing Director, Vinda Group Southeast Asia.

A cartoonist who has been drawing editorial cartoons for over 20 years and known among many as an advocate for truth and transparency in the country, Zunar’s original creation is hand-drawn on Vinda Deluxe tissues measuring 16 feet by eight feet, making it the nation’s largest comic art on tissue.

“Malaysia is going through an unprecedented chapter in our nation’s history; we stood strong and played our part, but what comes next? We have achieved a ‘new’ Malaysia but it’s now time for Malaysians to look deep inside and think about what else needs to be done. My artwork reflects the urgent need for us to tackle the root of our problems, cutting them off if necessary, so that we can grow new shoots that are strong and positive. I hope this campaign serves as an inspiration for all Malaysians to uproot all our bad habits so we can remain strong and united, and create a country that is cleaner and better for all,” said Zunar.

Speaking on his experience drawing on Vinda Deluxe tissues, Zunar said, “I was truly surprised that a tissue could be this strong, but Vinda Deluxe certainly lives up to its promise. Together, we have played a small part in celebrating Malaysia’s strength and resilience, and it’s a privilege to work with a like-minded partner like Vinda Deluxe. This is my first major piece of work for public exhibition since the dawn of our new Malaysia and it’s a great way to celebrate Malaysia Day!”

The Vinda Deluxe “Stay Strong, Malaysia: Bersama Kita Bersihkan Tanahair Kita” event, only at Sunway Pyramid, (Central Avenue, LG2) from 14 - 17 September 2018.
Vinda Deluxe Tissues are available as Facial Tissue (box and soft packs), Pocket Hanky and Toilet Paper, in scented and unscented variants, from RM6.00 to RM33.80.

4 Strategies for Keeping Your Pets Safe Outdoors

Allowing your pet outdoors can give it the exercise it needs and the chance to explore. However, from parasitic insects to feline leukemia virus, many dangers are present as well. From dogs and cats to farm animals that require time to graze and socialize, each may face different hazards when you allow them to roam your property. To lower the risk of injury or illness, there are several actions you can take while giving your pet the freedom it desires.

1.    Get Your Pet Microchipped

Microchipping your dog or cat can give it the best chances of getting home to you if it should wander too far and become lost. These tiny chips, which are injected under your pet’s skin, are scannable and allow any vet or shelter to identify your dog or cat if it is not wearing any collar or identification tags. The chip number carries your name, phone number, and other important information. Some shelters pair the microchip with a wearable tag that lets people know your pet is chipped and not a stray animal.

When you adopt a pet, some shelters offer chipping as part of the adoption fee. Your pet will not be aware of the chip once it is injected, and it causes no pain or discomfort, even for toy breeds.

2.    Use a Flea and Tick Treatment

Fleas, ticks, and mosquitos can cause a miserable infestation in your pet that can lead to long-term illnesses and even death. Once your pet picks up fleas and ticks and brings them into your home, their eggs can hide in carpets and bedding for months until they hatch and spread throughout your home. Using a pest treatment program can prevent these parasitic insects from hurting your pets or invading your home.

Advances in veterinary technology offer you many different choices when it comes to protecting your pet from biting insects. Collars, dips, shampoos, and even pills are available to repel fleas and ticks. While some come with the risk of mild side effects, most animals can tolerate them. You can ask your vet which type of treatment is the best choice for your individual pet.

 3.    Limit Contact With Strange Animals

If you allow your pet outdoors or take it with you on hikes or errands, it is a good idea to keep it under your control and supervision at all times to prevent contact with strange animals. Strays, wandering animals from nearby neighborhoods, and wild animals can all cause injury to your pet. Even leashed dogs might carry ear mites or fleas, so limiting your pet’s contact with strange animals can reduce the chances of transfer.

Limiting contact with other dogs can be especially important for a puppy who has not has its full course of immunizations. Contact can increase the chances of contracting parvoviral syndrome, which causes vomiting, diarrhea, a loss of appetite, and eventually death. While puppies can overcome parvo, they may develop distemper afterward, which causes high fever and coughing. There is no cure for this illness, and dogs that develop it usually have to be euthanized.

4.    Immunize Your Horse

Letting your horse out to graze can expose it to contagious and deadly diseases, such as equine distemper, which is also known as strangles, or tetanus, which can be picked up in pastures and grazing fields. Immunizing your horse can protect them as they enjoy the company of other horses, and you can visit VPD for horse vaccines and other products that can keep your horse safe and healthy.

Your pets face certain risks when you allow them outdoors to explore. However, with a little preventative care and knowledge, they can enjoy all the freedom that comes with visiting places beyond your backyard.

Simple Steps to Reduce Risk of HFMD Infection

Hand foot and mouth disease, also known as HFMD is most common among babies and children under the age of five. However, it is possible for older children and adults to be affected by HFMD as well1. Hence, it is extremely vital to stay clean whenever possible, and one of the simplest ways to do so is using the Antabax auxiliary range.

In Malaysia, this disease has affected many families and communities significantly with 35,886 HFMD incidents reported from January until July this year nationwide2.

Antabax, Malaysia’s number 1 Halal antibacterial personal care range, has an auxiliary range that comprises of a terrific trio of pocket-sized Antabax Antibacterial Cleansing Wipes, Instant Hand Sanitizer and Hand Sanitizer Spray. These handy cleansing essentials can help reduce the risk of HFMD infecting children and infants.

Product Usage
HFMD is a communicable disease that spreads through direct contact with the mucus, saliva, blister fluid and faeces of an infected child3. But, it can also spread indirectly through infected surfaces. It is best to sanitize frequently touched items at home or shared public equipment. Among those are the children’s water bottle, door knobs or baby chairs. Wipe them down with Antabax Antibacterial Wipes, freeing it from 99.9% of germs.

It was also recently discovered that the HFMD outbreak that started in Penang originated from supermarket trolley handlebars4. With ease and for peace of mind, use Antabax Hand Sanitizer Spray onto trolley handlebars and wipe it off with a clean tissue. It is also handy when sanitizing toys, schooling equipment’s like pencil case that may have been in contact with other children. It also does wonders when used on public toilet seats and train or bus handles for daily commute. My sons also like to use this hand sanitizer spray.

Our hands will always seem clean because germs are not visible to the naked eyes. It is important for parents to sanitize their hands after making contact with other people or public equipment before handling their children for precautionary measures. Let Antabax Gel Sanitizer do all the dirty work! Squeeze enough on your palm and rub it between hands and fingers as a thorough cleanse from germs, especially when soap and water is not available. I do keep the Antabax Gel Sanitizer inside my car, for the convenient to use as usual my kids will be using it after school.

The Antabax antibacterial range provides 24-hour protection and kills up to 99.9% of harmful germs. Formulated with skin vitamins and Aloe Vera to keep skin healthy and moisturized, its Derma Protect System contains Micro Moisture Serum to leave hands soft, smooth and healthy. Dermatologically tested to be gentle on the most delicate skin, the range is suitable for daily use.

Using Antabax gives all the family peace of mind because it is brand certified Halal by JAKIM.

Good hygiene practice starts from home. Together we can educate our children on its importance to help reduce the risk of your children infected by HFMD with Antabax.
For more information and tips on how to reduce the risk of being infected by HFMD, head to Antabax Facebook page, fb.com/NewAntabax or visit Antabax Instagtam @antabax for
continuous update.

Baker’s Yeast, The Gut Wrenching Solution by The Prime ProGiGuard

Teo Tze Seng, Product Manager of Cambert (M) Sdn Bhd for The Prime ProGIGuard
Introducing The Prime ProGIGuard – a yeast probiotic formulation scientifically proven to relieve abdominal pain and discomfort.

The Prime ProGIGuard recently hosted a dynamic and memorable event where scientific and clinically sound results supported the use of Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-3856 in abdominal symptomatic relief such as pain and generalised discomfort. Members of the public and media were made aware of Irritable Bowel Syndrome , or IBS, a common gastrointestinal disorder often unreported and underdiagnosed, and other associated conditions in IBD, or inflammatory bowel disorders such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, thanks to Professor Pierre Desreumaux, an international gastroenterological expert based in France.

Maria Tunku Sabri, TV Host

A Gutwrenching Loss
You are happily living your life as an active member of society, and can be aged anywhere from 15 – 65 years old. Sure, life can be stressful every now and then, but then who isn’t stressed in today’s fast paced lifestyle? So imagine waking up with abdominal pain, bloating, distension, flatulence, with constipation and/or diarrhoea. This goes on not just the whole day, but continues to the next day, and the next, with no sign of letting up. It is socially embarrassing and you feel self-conscious, anxious and depressed. The constant bloating leaves you developing a bad body image and alters your entire lifestyle. You don’t go to school or work and miss important academic or work developments that leave you behind and struggling to catch up. You cannot enjoy your food as you used to, fearing that a particular type of food will add to the bloating, distension and flatulence as well as the alteration in stool. Examples include not being able to eat ice cream, milk, spices or French fries. Reports show that activities are restricted up to 139 days of the year, and up to 40 days of absenteeism are recorded. Life goes on a downward spiral as you lose control of your once ordered life, and you are prescribed strong medicine such as antidepressants with potential side effects.

Yet you are not alone. Over 800 million people suffer as you do, from a condition known as IBS, or irritable bowel syndrome. This gastrointestinal syndrome is a collection of symptoms as listed above, and is diagnosed according to the Rome III criteria as recurrent abdominal pain or discomfort (an uncomfortable sensation not described as pain) for at least 3 days in a month in the last 3 months associated with 2 or more of the following: improvement with defecation, onset associated with a change in the frequency of stool, and the onset associated with a change in the appearance of stool according to the Bristol stool chart. 3 different types of IBS exist: IBS-C (IBS with constipation), IBS-D (IBS with diarrhoea), and IBS-M (IBS with mixed constipation and diarrhoea). Other symptoms of IBS include nausea, loss of bowel control, sudden urges to go to the bathroom and soiling.

From L-R: Canmy Ang, Managing Director of Taiping Poly (M) Sdn Bhd, Maria Tunku Sabri, TV Host, Teo Tze Seng, Product Manager of Cambert (M) Sdn Bhd for The Prime ProGIGuard, S.L. Ho, General Manager of Cambert (M) Sdn Bhd, Professor Pierre Desreumaux, International Gastroenterological Expert, Isadora Chai, Celebrity Chef, Owner of Antara & Bistro à Table and Food Stylist

IBS can affect anyone, and up to as high as 21% of adults are affected in certain regions. More women (70%) than men (30%) suffer IBS and all ages are affected, from teenagers to the elderly. However IBS is most commonly found in the age groups 30 – 50 years old. Many people don’t even realise that this is a condition, with only 30% of sufferers consulting their doctors about this condition. There are many different remedies on the market, but only 8% of patients are satisfied with their particular remedy. The syndrome affects patients both physically and psychologically, impairing the patient’s ability to function emotionally, socially and professionally.

IBS happens all over the world, and an average of 15.6% of Malaysians suffer from IBS, with the highest number of sufferers at greater than 20% in its respective country (the USA for example). The global cost incurred for sufferers of IBS is estimated at over USD$21 billion, including both the direct medical costs (physician visits, investigative tests, drugs, etc.) and indirect costs (loss of productivity, work absenteeism).

Sensitive Stomach and Gut
Professor Pierre Desreumaux is passionate about all things gut related. He is Head of the Inflammatory Digestive Diseases Research Unit at Lille University in France, and has been so for seventeen years to date. As a medical doctor and PhD holder he is both a skilled clinician and a top rated scientist, classified in the top 1% ranking by ISI Web Science in 2010. He gives approximately thirty oral presentations every year and has done so ever since he became head of the unit in both national and international congresses, and more than 200 publications reference him in the medical data base PubMed. He is specially flown in to speak about the role the special yeast probiotic Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-3856 plays in relieving IBS as the active ingredient in The Prime Pro GIGuard, a special formulation design to combat IBS.
Professor Pierre Desreumaux, International Gastroenterological Expert

Quotes from Prof Pierre Desreumaux
One way to combat Irritable Bowel Syndrome is to consume probiotics, a product readily available on the market. However, The Prime ProGIGuard is the only yeast probiotic
available on the market, so that it can get rid of bad bacteria AND bad yeast, especially harmful candida yeast that can enter the bloodstream.

The Prime ProGIGuard is safe and fast acting, and has strong scientific support and clinically proven efficacy. Anyone from children aged two years and above can consume it, and it is a breakthrough in gastrointestinal pain management.

The Prime ProGIGuard has been clinically proven to relieve gastrointestinal symptoms, and is suitable for anyone suffering from indigestion, food poisoning, food allergies and/or food intolerance, constipation, diarrhoea, trapped wind and bloating, overeating, anxiety, depression, stomach flu or even menstrual pain.

Studies have shown that sufferers of gastrointestinal pain and discomfort experienced a significant reduction in symptoms from the first week onwards of consumption and especially within the first two weeks/15 days of consumption.

Bakers Yeast - a Natural Probiotic Proven to Settle the Stomach
Saccharomyces cerevisiae in The Prime ProGIGuard works in IBS by several ways. One of the ways is that Saccharomyces cervisiae CNCM I-3856 secretes saccharolytic enzymes and assisting intestinal flora in generating short chain fatty acids that accelerates the bowel movements. It also acts as a visceral analgesic, increasing resistance to pain by up to 40%. It also acts as an anti-inflammatory to combat intestinal inflammation. It helps rebalance the bacteria in the gut, being shown to reduce the harmful bacteria Enterococcus, E. coli and C. albicans. Nivea Care Run 2017

A contribution of RM20,000 from NIVEA Care Run was presented to Yayasan Budi Penyayang Malaysia (PENYAYANG) to support Malaysians in need.
[From L-R] Mr Ng Hock Guan, Country Manager for Beiersdorf Malaysia & Singapore, Mr Cheong Wai Lun, Head of Marketing of Beiersdorf Malaysia, Dato’ Leela Mohd Ali, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan Budi Penyayang and En. Ariff Farhan, General Manager of Yayasan Budi Penyayang.

Last Sunday morning, almost 2,500 Malaysians gathered at Putrajaya for the NIVEA Care Run, hosted by NIVEA Protect & Care, a gentle yet long-lasting deodorant designed to care for the underarm skin. Expanding on its theme, ‘Protects What You Care’ to include care to the community, a contribution of RM20,000 from the run was also donated to Yayasan Budi Penyayang Malaysia (PENYAYANG), an established charity organisation that supports Malaysians in need.

NIVEA Protect & Care deodorant uses an alcohol-free formula that is tough on sweat, offering up to 48 hours of protection, while its skin-friendly ingredients leave underarms skin softer and smoother. Enriched with the essence of NIVEA Crème, it nourishes and cares for the underarms with its distinctive ingredients and delicate scent. I am using this daily as I am busy mom of two boys always on the go.

“NIVEA Protect & Care is privileged to collaborate with PENYAYANG in their efforts to support Malaysians in need,” said Ng Hock Guan, Country Manager for Beiersdorf Malaysia & Singapore. “Today’s run is closely aligned with our brand proposition for NIVEA Protect & Care deodorant, where protection and care come hand in hand. Hence, we are also very grateful to all our partners and sponsors for working together with us to support this cause. We are also very proud that so many Malaysians have come forth to support the NIVEA Care Run. Each participant has played a role in today’s success.”

About 2,500 NIVEA Care Run participants start their run after the flag-off by the NIVEA management team and celebrity guest Siti Saleha

To raise further awareness about underarm care, participants of the NIVEA Care Run were presented with plenty of skin facts such as the extent of skin damage caused by shaving and tweezing and how debris removed during shaving may contain up to 36% of skin*, shown via a skin test demonstration.

Other activities at the run included a “Protect & Care” pledge wall where participants could leave messages to express their care for loved ones, a PENYAYANG booth, lucky
draws and photo booths, with the presence of local celebrities Siti Saleha, Nadia Heng and Fiqrie.

BRAND'S Feed Your #MINDANDBODY Media Launch

FEED THE MIND AND BODY RIGHT FOR OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE AND GENERAL WELL-BEING

“You are what you eat” is a commonly used phrase by parents and nutritionists as the food one eats has a bearing on one’s state of mental, emotional and physical health, which directly impacts your overall well-being.

Getting the fundamentals of human nutrition right can ensure that you have the mental focus and concentration for improved productivity, helps you cope with stress better, and gives your body the energy to carry you through the day’s activities.

However, providing our mind and body with the right nutrition is often neglected because of hectic lifestyles that determine when or what we eat, rather than what we need.

Therefore, leading health food supplement brand, BRAND’S® is reminding Malaysians to feed their mind and body to ensure that they are living life to their fullest potential by always performing at their best regardless of age.
“Eating right to ensure the mind and body performs at its optimum level needs to be a lifelong habit where conscious effort is made to incorporate a good diet and nutrition regardless of age whether you are a young student, working professional, busy mother or enjoying your golden years,” said consultant dietitian and founder of her own nutrition clinic Indra Balaratnam at the BRAND’S® “Feed Your Mind And Body” panel discussion today.

The nutritionist emphasized that consuming the right food, following a balanced diet and getting proper rest not only gives you energy and mental clarity but also puts you in the right emotional frame of mind to help manage stress better.

Joining Indra at the panel discussion moderated by host Adrian Seet was the multi-talented
Cheryl Lee – 988 FM radio host, actress, singer and lyricist – and top students,
18-year old Yang Chong Sheng and Lee Zhi Xuan who both sat for their SPM examinations last year.

“While I do enjoy my work and taking on new projects, sometimes when my schedule becomes too hectic, it leaves me feeling stressed and tired. I know that it is important to nourish the body so that I don’t feel fatigued and am able to keep going through the long hours,” shared Lee.

Meanwhile, students Yang and Lee acknowledged that a healthy mind and body, combined with a positive attitude lets them perform at their best on a daily basis to achieve great heights in both their studies and extra-curricular activities.

Both are recipients of the BRAND’S® SMART Achievers Awards, an annual programme that recognises the outstanding performance of students who excel in both their studies and co-curricular activities. They are part of a group of 24 students who were rewarded with cash prizes for excelling in their PT3, SPM, STPM and university examinations last year.

Neuroscientist Dr. Jack Wong Jin Lin, who is also a senior scientist at BRAND’S® Suntory International, shared the science behind the iconic green capped bottle of chicken essence and explained how it reduces physical tiredness, improves mental concentration and maintains
emotional well-being.

“Increased blood circulation and oxygen flow to the brain and body keeps mental and physical fatigue away, while reducing anxiety and stress hormone, cortisol, so that the ability to stay alert or focus is not affected,” said Dr. Jack Wong.

“BRAND’S® Essence of Chicken is a natural food supplement with no added salt and is cholesterol and fat free, making it suitable for daily consumption to help fuel the mind and body,” added Dr. Wong.

A trusted name with a heritage of over 180 years that continues to improve over time through R&D, BRAND’S® Essence Of Chicken is the only chicken essence in the market backed by over 40 international scientific papers and clinical studies. Results have shown that regular consumption improves memory by up to 15% and enhances concentration by 22%, while metabolism can be increased by up to 16%.

As part of the BRAND’S® “Feed Your Mind And Body” awareness initiative, BRAND’S® has committed to nourish the minds and bodies of Malaysians nationwide with the distribution of
100,000 bottles of BRAND’S® Essence Of Chicken.

Running from July until the end of August, the sampling team will visit high traffic locations including LRT stations, office buildings, shopping malls, universities and toll plazas.
